4 Bible Verses To Encourage You During COVID-19 Quarantine

Instead of filling our days with mindless activities and depressing news, it would be good to fill our minds and hearts with the Word of God. Especially now that we are under Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Among its many other benefits, God's Word encourages and inspires us.

Here are four Bible verses that have helped encourage me during these times.

1. Deuteronomy 7:21
“Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God.”
Trust God. He is great, awesome, and our Almighty Father. He created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). We can trust Him.

Trusting God means knowing, believing, and obeying His Word. It means holding on to His promises even when we can't see how it is going to happen.

God is faithful and He does not lie. He is All-powerful to fulfill what He said He would do.

Prayer: Father, You are great and awesome and worthy of all praise. You are faithful and just, and You are our promise-keeping God. Thank You for looking after me, protecting me and my family, and providing for all of our needs. This I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

2. Psalm 46:1-2
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.”
Do not fear. Our security comes from God. Our strength to conquer adverse circumstances comes from Him as well. He is always with us in times of trouble. We can count on Him.

Remembering God's words, "I am with you," definitely gives us the audacity we need when we are tempted to fear.

God strengthen us in every situation for His glory. We have can have confidence in our identity with Him. He is everywhere and He is always with us.

Prayer: Thank You, Father, for you are my strength and my shield. You are my security and my protection. My tomorrows are in Your hands and I will not be afraid. I know You will never leave me nor forsake me. This is my prayer in Jesus' name. Amen.

3. John 16:33
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Have peace and be happy. The Holy Spirit provides joy and peace in our hearts that we are able to remain calm and happy even during these times.

Happiness that comes from God Himself is mysterious. Actively pursuing happiness actually results in a person not finding it. But pursuing God first results in lasting happiness that is difficult to understand.

Peace in Jesus Christ is not measured by the absence of struggle or conflict. It is measured by the depth and closeness of our relationship with Him, who Himself is the Prince of Peace.

Prayer: Lord, please help me know and experience Your kind of happiness and peace. Help me make my relationship with You more intimate. Help me understand that You're all I need to be happy and at peace. This I ask in Jesus' name. Amen.

4. 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Continue to be loving and level headed. The spirit of power doesn't mean we are given the license to control others. God's way of power and leadership is how much we can love and serve others, starting with our own family and loved ones.

God wants us to have a calm and self-controlled mind. One that is in contrast to the panic and confusion most people feel in this kind of fearful situation.

When we trust God and we receive His happiness and peace, we are able to combat fear and stay composed. This is when we are able to make life-saving decisions not only for us, but also for those around us.

Prayer: Father, calm my fears and soothe my anxious heart. Help me love others as you love them. Give me courage and confidence as I seek to live for You in this day of insecurity and uncertainty. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
