10 Tips on How to be a Positive Person - #5 - Find Inspiration Daily

Note: In this series of posts, I will share 10 tips on how to be a more positive person. At the end of the series, I will gather them all together for a synopsis.
"The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge." – Bertrand Russell
Inspiration is found in everything, even in the things that you least expect it to come from. The key is to be sensitive to what life is trying to say – through daily experiences, realizations, and interactions with people.

Inspiration is one of the main factors that can inject positivity in a person’s life. When your days are full of inspiring thoughts, you will feel like you can do anything. That’s how powerful inspiration is. You can go on when everyone else is already tired and weary.

The dictionary defines inspiration as “the process of being mentally stimulated to do something". This is essential especially when you want to accomplish a goal. Without the proper amount of inspiration, all goals are unreachable.

Here are some suggestions on how to find inspiration every day:

1. Draw inspiration from loved ones

You don’t have to look very far to find inspiration. One of the greatest and most common sources of inspiration is your family and loved ones. Perhaps you are not aware of it, but you may already be experiencing it right now.

There are several ways to do this. One is to simply watch them. Looking at your kids can be very inspiring. How many fathers have endured finishing a specific project at work just because they had their children in mind?

Another way is to spend time with them and try to see everything through their eyes. Doing bonding activities with people you love can help inspire you out of the blue.

A third one is talking with them and engaging in meaningful conversation. Ask your spouse what she loves the most about life and observe carefully how she responds with passion and enthusiasm.

These are only some ideas, you may have much more.

2. Fill your life with inspirational media

This is an input/output case in which what you fill your moments with are what you most often experience. For instance, if you expose yourself to angry media – books, songs, movies, news, etc. – then you are setting yourself up to be angry. If you frequently watch horror films, it is not surprising that you always have nightmares.

What if you fill your life with positive media? What do you think will happen? Listen to inspiring music. Read inspirational books. Watch movies that motivate you and give you hope.

3. Find time for meditation

There are many ways to do this and it is all up to you which one is your preference.

Some people use this time of meditation to just stay still, be quiet, and empty the mind. Others use it for prayer and thanksgiving. There are people who use it for writing, reflecting, and planning. Whatever it is you choose to do, this is the time to be alone, contemplate, and release yourself from all outside pressures.

Disconnect from the internet for a while and turn off your smartphone. Find a nice, quiet spot where you can be comfortable, away from the noise of the world. Ponder on your life and think about the little things you have done that made some positive impact on the people around you.

Key Idea: Be proactive in seeking inspiration. Fill your life with it. Have quiet time to reflect and contemplate.
