Loving yourself is the first step towards creating more positivity in your life. 

Accepting yourself for who you really are, along with your strengths and weaknesses, is essential if you want to live a life of positivity. 

Acknowledging your strengths gives you motivation while admitting your weaknesses allows you to have the opportunity to improve.

Contrary to popular belief, self-love is not selfishness or arrogance. It is not thinking of yourself better than others. It is viewing yourself as capable and complete, ready to love others because you know how to love yourself.

People who love others more than they love themselves are suffering from low self-esteem. 

How is this so? They put an extraordinary amount of pressure on themselves to be everything for other people and to please them no matter what, that they spread themselves thin they have absolutely no time to care for themselves. 

This attitude is dangerous as it attracts negativity and feelings of rejection.

Loving yourself produces healthy self-esteem, the kind that doesn’t rely on the affirmation of others to also love and do something good for them. 

It is very important because before any outside force can penetrate your sense of self-worth, you are actually the first person who can sabotage your own confidence.

Here are some ways on how to love yourself:

1. Eliminate negative self-talk

One way of loving yourself is to eliminate negative self-talk. So many people have only themselves to blame for all the pessimism that they are experiencing.

Most of the time, it happens subconsciously as a monotonous commentary going on in your mind. Negative self-talk degrades and paralyzes you, keeping you from reaching your full potential or even simply accomplishing anything. It gives you feelings of inadequacy and depression.

To love yourself, this is the first thing to eliminate.

2. Allow yourself to make mistakes

Realize that everybody makes mistakes and you are perfect because of your imperfections. Most people have entertained a lot of negativity in their lives just because of their fear of failure. 

You must not be afraid to fail as failures are really just ways of not doing something again. Henry Ford famously said that “failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.” Use your failures as stepping stones to move your life forward.

Fear of failure prevents you from ever trying anything new. This is a very good way of wasting all your intelligence, skills, and talents, which robs you of all positivity in life. The key is to concentrate on the lessons you have learned from a particular mistake and to find out how to do it better.

3. Have enough rest

You are not a machine. You are a human being, so give yourself sufficient rest and sleep. Sleep restores and replenishes your lost vitality and energy. It also repairs all the damages incurred by the body during all your waking activities.

Also, make time to do things that relax you and calms you down. Spend time on things that you love doing and those which gives you inspiration. Eat the right foods that improve your physical health and have enough exercise. Loving yourself means taking care of yourself.
